Report on Import&Export of Goods Trade of Romania in January-June 2019

The preliminary statistics released by INSshows that in January-June 2019, the total volume of import and export of goodstrade of Romania was 77.4808 billion euros, with an increase of 4.3% year onyear. Among these, the FOB export volume was 34.8943 billion euros, with anincrease of 2.7% year on year, and the CIF import volume was 42.5865 billioneuros, with an increase of 5.7% year on year.

In June, the FOB export volume was 5.5596billion euros, with a decrease of 5.5% year on year, down 11.4% month on month,and the CIF import volume was 6.6905 billion euros, with a decrease of 6.9%year on year and a drop of 13.7% month on month.

I. Trade within the EU

In January-June 2019, Romania鈥檚 tradevolume with the EU countries was 58.8585 billion euros, with an increase of 4.4%year on year, taking up 76.0% of Romania鈥檚 total amount of import and export ofgoods service over the same period of time. Among these, the export volume was 26.9169billion euros, with an increase of 3.2% year on year, accounting for 77.1% ofthe total export amount over the same period of time. The import volume was 31.9416billion euros, with an increase of 5.5% year on year, accounting for 75.0% ofthe total import amount over the same period of time.

II. Trade outside the EU

In January-June 2019, Romania鈥檚 tradevolume with the countries outside the EU was 18.6223 billion euros, with anincrease of 4.0% year on year, taking up 24.0% of Romania鈥檚 total amount ofimport and export over the same period of time. Among these, the export volumewas 7.9774 billion euros, with a decrease of 0.9% year on year, accounting for 22.9%of the total export amount over the same period of time. The import volume was 10.6449billion euros, with an increase of 6.5% year on year, accounting for 25.0% ofthe total import amount over the same period of time.

III. Trade deficits

In January-June 2019, the FOB-valuedexports were offset by the CIF-valued imports, and Romania鈥檚 trade deficit was 7.6922billion euros, with an increase of 1.3768 billion euros year on year. Amongthese, the trade deficit within the EU was 5.0247 billion euros, up 19.3% yearon year and that outside the EU was 2.6675 billion euros, up 29.6% year onyear.

In June, Romania鈥檚 trade deficit was 1.1309billion euros, with a decrease of 13.2% year on year.

IV. Trade structure

From the perspective of the structure, inJanuary-June 2019, Romania鈥檚 main categories of imports and exports weremachinery and transportation equipment (accounting for 48.2% of the totalexport volume and 37.3% of the total import volume respectively over the sameperiod of time) and other processed products (taking up 32.8% of the totalexport volume and 30.5% of the total import volume respectively over the sameperiod of time).
